During the 2026 election period the Fast-track process will function as normal.
The Ministry for the Environment and the Environmental Protection Authority will continue to assess applications for compliance with the Act, and prepare necessary reports, according to statutory timeframes. Processing of applications will continue as usual.
Ministers will continue their statutory duty to perform certain functions, including the Minister for Infrastructure issuing referral decisions.
Expert panels will continue to be appointed, consider applications, and issue decisions.
