Process overview
The Fast-track Approvals Act 2024 offers a permanent process for obtaining resource consent and a wide range of other approvals. Fast-track brings these together into a streamlined process. -
Referral application to use the Fast-track
Projects can apply for referral to use the Fast-track. Projects listed in the Fast-track Approvals Act 2024 don’t need referral before making a substantive application. -
Substantive application for resource consents and other approvals
If a project is listed or referred to the Fast-track, you can make a substantive application. A panel decides whether to approve the project and impose conditions. -
Expert panels
Panel conveners or associate conveners appoint expert panels to decide on Fast-track projects. -
Comments
Panels must invite written comment from some people or groups listed in the Fast-track Approvals Act 2024. -
Organisations involved in the Fast-track process
A range of central and local government and other organisations are involved in the Fast-track process for resource consents and other approvals. -
Using the application portal
Referral and substantive applications are created, submitted and managed online in the Fast-track application portal. -
Fees, charges and cost recovery
Fast-track costs are recovered from applicants. Here are the fees, charges, and cost-recovery processes for applicants. -
